Nice release.

Wasn't it this series that some Church goers missed some programmes, so copies were lent to them to watch?

Thaw and Watermen's guesting on the 76 Xmas show may have been the initial trigger that opened the door with Thames.

The film offer obviously had a lot to do with it, but imagine LWT taking them on, and doing one hour specials, looking as lavish as the Stanley Baxter ones.

Re: Morecambe and Wise jumping ship

Well, their ATV series was very popular, but they obviously soared with the BBC, when they left for Thames ( as good as Thames was) they were not up to the BBC's polished production, and a lot of sketches were re-cycled from the BBC shows. The promise of films, turned out to be the TV movie, "Night ...

BTW if you spot Vacant Possession in the TP schedule (they do show it fairly frequently) it is from the AR series Blackmail

A rather amusing bit of fun.

Re: Talking Pictures - more 'No Hiding Place' episodes

The 'End of Part One' caption idea was really clever The use of the End of Part One caption was great. A nice bit of inventive work. I was wondering if they used another studio gallery for those scenes with John Cater. I thought the same thing. It looks a lot to me like the gallery in Studio 1 whic...

Re: Talking Pictures - more 'No Hiding Place' episodes

I just misread my clock this morning, but only missed the first 10 minutes or so. I was only trying to get half an hour lay in, but it spread. How ever an enjoyable episode again a show that had different directors for the Studio and film sections. I liked the view of the gallery during the in show...

Yes, it did break suddenly during that scene, so hopefully the end of it is still there.

"Inquest On An Idol" (24/7/62) is actually on at 8am ( Sunday 11th) odd time.

Re: Talking Pictures - more 'No Hiding Place' episodes

The print of "Death On The Doorstep" was very good. Eric Lander dried at one point and was prompted off screen and Ivor Dean gave a wonderfully camp performance. Nice to see Kevin Stoney and a brief scene with Joy Stewart. For me, "Music For Murder" is the best one of those screened by TPTV, so far,...

The first of the newly announced episodes is being shown next Wednesday (7th) at 4.30pm, it's called "Death On The Doorstep", 1/1/63.

TPTV have shown a clip, and the quality of the print looks very good.

"Going For A Bundle" was very entertaining and funny, better then the Papers one, reminded me even more of "Get This" and the fun, Fowler and Lynch had on that series. I thought they were great, a funny double act - especially as James was thought of as a snooty, moody villain. Yes, they worked wel...
