Stephen Critchlow (16 Nov 1966 - 19 Sept 2021)

A prolific radio actor in the BBC Rep, on stage (Playing Kenneth Horne in the tour of Round The Horne Revisited springs to mind immediately) and possibly more recognisable from the Oak Furniture Village adverts - there's no veneer in here. Died remarkably young but, I am told, enjoyed life to the fu...

Re: "Ace Of Wands" series 2 50th

Found this on an Australian archive website: http://www.sarnold.co.uk/mc/aceofwands.jpg The brief article doesn't mention whether is was being broadcast or not, and I get the feeling that the Australian Women's Weekly covered things for ex-pats - look what is going on at home - from some other searc...

Tony Selby 1938-2021

Sadly, after the mistaken identity earlier this year, we are having to dust off a proper obit for Tony Selby.

Re: Good news for all you fans of Our Man at St Marks

Three photos as received. This: One is called Pay Now Live Later, the next is Objection Sustained and the 3rd is missing the credits but I think it is Eddies Acre from the email, but I will leave Jon to add anything else as I certainly don't wish to steal his thunder. This looks to be a very nice an...

Sorry to hear of your loss.

Was she involved in broadcasting in any way as that is what this board is about?

Jon, I'll send my email address via private message and will happily sort out uploading the images so they can be seen on the site. You can use external image hosters, but I think most have gone to subscriptions these days.

As moderator for the board I do get to see all the information on sign up and I check each and every one to ensure the board isn't spammed. The first thing I do is google the email address for sign-up, and yours pointed me to an ebay profile using the same email address: Based in United Kingdom, los...

Re: Good news for all you fans of Our Man at St Marks

I'm surprised that you didn't think of selling them via ebay initially as you have quite a lot of other auctions currently active and seem to have been on ebay for 9 years.

Perhaps, if you really do have the film reels you wouldn't mind posting a few snaps of them before you head off to Uni.

Re: Morecambe and Wise footage and Monty Python

Morecambe and Wise bored stiff by Monty Python is the current headline, but I didn't get that from the piece or the video. Ernie says there are bits that are good and bits that aren't, and the good is outweighed. That has always been my opinion of Python. Variety artists finding Oxbridge humour 'dif...

Re: Adam Adamant Lives DVD set- Reprint?

I was very pleased that Doomwatch finally got a release as I had worn my VHS recordings from UKGold out. It is odd though, the passage of about 10 years of not seeing it had obviously given my memories rose tinting as when the DVD arrived I started watching immediately only to set it aside after a f...

Re: Adam Adamant Lives DVD set- Reprint?

Wasn't it only the first episode that got any cleaning up for the DVD release? Admittedly Network seem to spend a lot on remastering niche titles for bluray - Maigret being the latest - so I wonder if it is a case of not being cost effective or the Beeb have held the title back for themselves. If so...

Re: Adam Adamant Lives DVD set- Reprint?

But, that is the point. It is a cult following - not a mass appeal. Those who wanted it, got it when it was first issued, so are very unlikely to double dip, which means the market is a small section of a niche one. There is the slim possibility of it turning up on streaming at some point, but it is...

Knowles, John Clegg and Don Estelle had been in Dad's Army, so you could argue the rep was being formed during that shows run.

More likely because of this: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b03kpwv9 - listed as Radio 4, Home Service and Third Programme, but on a Radio4 web page. I think it originally was part of an archive collection - a separate strand of microsites covering specific topics. They were very good but disconti...

Not sure about a massive improvement. From what I can tell, is it all the same notes, just not in the same order, with the basic Genome archive data and the PIPs data (that was/is available via https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes) essentially the same. There have been some cosmetic changes, but it look...

Re: Coming soon on Freeview Channels

Great though it is to get these episodes, the random scheduling is a bit annoying. Hear, hear! I don't have TV on much, and don't always remember to check the TPTV schedules so have annoyingly missed a couple of episodes of series recently. I just hope that they come round again and I spot them in ...

Re: Holby City Cancellation

To be honest, I was surprised it was actually still going. I don't watch a great deal of telly and have actively avoided shows where there is blood, gore, and needles, but I'd say 23 years for a spin off from a series that first started in 1986, it has had a good run. It must get to a point where th...
