Earl Cameron (aged 101) and June Spencer (100) were both interviewed for an episode of a Radio 4 series called "Living Memory" about centenarians:

Re: Still With Us
Some of the actors who have graced my screen recently. Hopefully will bring some cheer amid the growing list of obituaries on the 'Ashes' thread.
I know someone has already mentioned Earl Cameron is still with us at 101, which is very impressive. Apologies if there is any other duplication.

Andree Melly from Hancock's Half Hour (and sister to George) is still with us at 91.
If I were creating the world I wouldn't mess about with butterflies and daffodils. I would have started with lasers, eight o'clock, Day One!

Married to Oscar Quitak, 93, an amazing CV, but I still think of him as the wheelchair bound Cerebraun in "Ace Of Wands"Beaker wrote:Andree Melly from Hancock's Half Hour (and sister to George) is still with us at 91.

As someone who turns 62 tomorrow, I think you should be in your 70s at least before it's noteworthy that you're "still with us".
You've even got a kid of 58 listed there. I mean , come on!

Re: Still With Us
As a 62-year-old myself I must agree, I think the cut off should be at least 80 (and I expect my parents would argue with that.)wittoner wrote:As someone who turns 62 tomorrow, I think you should be in your 70s at least before it's noteworthy that you're "still with us".
Back to the subject, over on the Avengers International Fan Forum hyperfan denis rigg has posted an impressive listing of just about everyone involved with the programme. There are over 130 cast members above my 80 year cutoff known to be still with us, the oldest being Geoffrey Chater (98).
The Avengers: living and possibly living performers for 2019
Re: Still With Us
That list includes John Savident who died in 2006.
Re: Still With Us
Savident's "Coronation Street" character died in 2006. According to Wikipedia, and I've heard nothing to the contrary, Mr. Savident himself is thankfully still with us.Brian F wrote:That list includes John Savident who died in 2006.

Oops, the curse of looking up IMDB without reading glasses on.
Re: Still With Us
It struck me today not only that Roy Hudd is 83, but also that he was brought up by his grandmother, who used to take him to the Variety Theatre and who he has described as "the best judge of a comedian I’ve ever known". Could he be the only living performer directly influenced by 19th-century culture?

Re: Still With Us
YES!! Stuck with me through the years. I was gutted when I found out that 'The Eye of Ra' no longer existed! And there are no known scripts or stills from the story, only a nth-generation off-air audio recording of three of the four episodes. I remember Cerebraun's demise very clearly. He detaches the control box from his wheelchair and casts it to the floor saying, 'the next model will be better!' before being turned into a toad. They don't make 'em like that any more...Mark wrote:Married to Oscar Quitak, 93, an amazing CV, but I still think of him as the wheelchair bound Cerebraun in "Ace Of Wands"Beaker wrote:Andree Melly from Hancock's Half Hour (and sister to George) is still with us at 91.

Re: Still With Us
André Maranne (real name André Maillol), who cornered the market in parts for French character actors, is 93 and lives in Brighton. Possibly best known for the Gourmet Night episode of Fawlty Towers but appeared in many series including Emergency Ward 10, Doctor Who, The Troubleshooters, Yes Minister, and Bergerac.
Re: Still With Us
Always liked him, great Actor, not surprisingly he did a lot of French Language programmes that The BBC made over the years.

Brian Henderson, 88; Australian radio and television personality, who hosted the entertaining 'Brian Henderson's Bandstand'.

Re: Still With Us
Listening to Joan Bakewell being interviewed on Radio 4's PM about being over 50, I'm reminded that she's 86.
Re: Still With Us
He's made a number of TV appearances, so let's say hello to Burt Bacharach, aged 91. I'm currently listening to last week's Friday Night is Music Night from Radio 2 where he accompanied vocalist Joss Stone in a concert of his many hits. On the question of why he keeps going, he says "it keeps me grounded in very turbulent times". Quite a remarkable performance.

Re: Still With Us
I watched an episode of Inspector Morse a few nights ago, Second Time Around. A memorable episode and I enjoyed watching it again. Noticed that Ken Colley is still with us at 82. He appeared in 2 Star wars movies also, as an Imperial officer.
Re: Still With Us
Happy birthday to Barry Humphries, 86 today. Yesterday on Radio 2 he presented a programme of music from the year of his birth as part of his hugely entertaining Forgotten Musical Masterpieces series. I think I prefer him as DJ to playing Dame Edna!

Re: Still With Us
Actor Gary Watson is 89. I just re-found the Argo LP recordings. He plays Harry, the King, in Shakespeare's Henry V with the Marlowe Society cast (which includes Prunella Scales and Derek Jacobi!). He is the best Henry V.

Sadly Prunella is not able to enjoy her old age. Every comedy writer who uses dementia as a cheap punchline should be forced to talk to dementia patient's carers.

I haven't read it so I can't be sure, but isn't there someone in the Wizard of Oz without a heart? Next time they make a film of it I think you should apply to play that part.

Happy 80th birthday to Brigit Forsyth (and thanks to Serenade Radio for playing the Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads? theme tune in celebration!).
