1980's Comedy Set in a Movie Theatre

Post by Dave Homewood »

I have a vague memory of watching a TV comedy series from the US back in the 1980's that was set around a bunch of High School teens who worked after school in a cinema. It screened here in New Zealand around about the mid-1980's in a late afternoon slot. I thought the main character was Jason Bateman, or maybe Michael J. Fox, but I cannot see anything that matches on their IMDb pages. Does anyone else recall this series?

Are you sure it was a television series? There are movies that sound similar, but obviously those would have been one-offs.
Was it long-running?

Yes I am sure it was a series. Possibly only one or two seasons.

There was something called The Popcorn Kid which would fit your initial description to a degree, but it only ran for six episodes not a couple of seasons.

Oh wow, yes, I think that's it! Thanks so much.

So it wasn't Jason Bateman, like I'd thought, but the kid I was thinking of, Bruce Norris, is very similar.

Cheers!
